The Accelerating Salt Research and Innovation (ASIN) Center joined the official launch of the Philippine Salt Industry Development Roadmap (PSIDR) 2025–2040, held on July 8, 2025, in Quezon City. The event, led by the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR), marked an important step toward reviving and strengthening the country’s salt industry.
The roadmap outlines a 15-year plan to make the Philippine salt industry more productive, sustainable, and competitive. It also aims to support local salt producers in meeting the country’s demand and contributing to national food security and economic growth.
The launch was attended by key government officials and stakeholders, including Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary Dr. Renato U. Solidum Jr., DA Undersecretary for Fisheries Drusila Esther E. Bayate, Philippine Association of Salt Industry Networks (PhilASIN) President Gerard C. Khonghun, members of the Philippine Salt Industry Development Council (PSIDC), and local salt producers from across the country.
Engr. Rex Basuel, Program Leader of the ASIN Center, attended the event and expressed support for the roadmap’s vision of enhancing innovation and collaboration in the salt sector.
